The bag

Usually, the bag has 2 film layers on each side. Compared to a single thicker layer of film, the two film layers that scrape against each other offer increased flexibility and elasticity which allows for higher resilience during handling and transportation when filled up. And the inner layer which comes in contact with the product is made out of a food-grade PE film. An EVOH composite film (with a ratio of less than 5% EVOH, which makes it recyclable) or metallised polyester is used as an oxygen and water vapour barrier. Non-sensitive products or products with a short shelf life are placed in bags without barrier properties.

The box

Usually, the client provides their own folding boxes. They can be either glued or fitted. What is important here is that there are no sharp corners and edges inside that could damage the film of the bag. If you don’t yet have a folding box, please contact us. The closure system (tap, spout, postmix valve, etc.) 

The closure system consists of the filling spigot, which is shrink-wrapped in the film and which is used for filling up the bag, as well as the closure itself, which is placed over the spigot once the filling process is complete. Its form depends on the packaged liquid. It looks different for wine than for dairy products, or for lubricants than for cooking oils. One thing remains true, the variety we offer will allows to find the right solution for your purposes.

The recyclable closure

Coming soon: The closure will be recyclable. This increases suitability for sorting in recycling plants by eliminating black plastic components. Thanks to the patented ecological tear-off tab, the cap remains on the tap and is not carelessly thrown away but is recycled with the rest. A small change with a big effect.

The eco box

There are multiple reasons why a bag-in box packaging is environmentally friendly:

1、When folded before being filled, no air is transported.

2、The rectangular form of the boxes also allows for good stacking and transportation without space loss.

3、Plastic film is much lighter than glass and thus the packaging is much lighter than the contents.

4、In comparison to glass, cardboard and plastic bag manufacturing releases less greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere.

5、This type of packaging saves space during disposal and has good sorting properties in the recycling plants.

6、The bag adjusts to the filling volume when emptied, so that no oxygen reaches the goods and causes them to spoil. Resource-conserving handling of food.

Areas of use:

Besides beverage packaging for wholesale and retail for wine and juices, bag-in-box packaging is used also in the hotel and restaurant business, among others, for post-mix beverages (concentrates) as well as in industrial sectors. For dairy products, cooking oils, sauces or liquid eggs for commercial kitchens as well as in the chemical industry or for lubricants in the automotive industry. Likewise, more and more cleaning agents are being supplied in large containers in bag-in-box systems.
